Pitaya Dragon Fruit Smoothie

Dragon fruit or Pitaya is an unusual source of protein that speeds up your metabolism making it a great fruit for weight loss.

Pitaya is also high in Vitamin C which helps to boost immune system; contains no cholesterol, and almost no unhealthy, cholesterol-producing fats. It is also packed with B group Vitamins, such as Vitamin B1, B2, and B3; a great source of fiber to help digestion and contains natural antioxidants aids in cancer prevention. This fruit is also known for its Antibacterial and Anti-fungal properties.

You can get Dragon Fruit at your local farmers market – depending on a season, or try the exotic section in the groceries stores. But it’s kinda pricy to buy it fresh. About $5-6 for just one fruit. Easy to make healthy Dragon Fruit (pitaya) recipe that makes a great breakfast or snack.

Ingredients
  • 1 Pack (3.5oz/100g) Frozen Pitaya/Dragon Fruit
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 cup ice
Instructions
  1. Mix all the ingredients in a high speed blender like Vitamix.
  2. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Note: Feel free to add more dates for extra sweetness!
