5 Tips For Losing Weight After Baby – Without Dieting Or Exercising

It’s not easy to lose weight especially after having a baby. Sleepless nights and new busy schedule leaves you with little or no energy to exercise, or worse, diet. The good news is, there are things you can do to lose weight after baby without dieting or exercising.

And here they are.

1. Breastfeed

Since your body isn’t normally creating milk, it has to work harder to produce enough to handle the constant demand of your new baby. That’s why you burn extra 300-500 calories a day when breastfeeding.

Plus you’re giving the energy to the baby via calories when you breastfeed. You’re not storing as many calories for yourself because you’re passing a lot of them to your child. Unless you supplement that with extra food, the weight will start coming off.

2. Drink lots of water

Water keeps you hydrated and fills your stomach up so that you don’t eat as much. And some research has found that it speeds up your metabolism.

The best way to tell if you are drinking enough water is by the color of your wee-wee. It should be relatively clear, and you should be going to the bathroom every three to four hours.

3. Go For A Walk

Sudden lifestyle change and sleepless nights make you feel like the exercise is the last thing on your mind. But you don’t have to hit the gym. All you need to do is to take your baby for a walk. 150 minutes a week is all you need to get your heart pumping and muscles working. Plus it helps to relive stress, fight depression, sleep better and lose weight.

4. Sleep More

Sleep deprivation could make it harder for you to shed the baby weight. When you’re tired, your body releases cortisol and other stress hormones that can promote weight gain. You are also less likely to take a good care of yourself skipping physical activities and eating fast food more often.

So listen to your mother-in-law and “sleep when your baby sleeps.” Ask family members to help you out around the house or get a sitter so that you can get some rest and catch as many naps as you can.

5. Snack Often

When you are constantly producing milk you need enough vitamins and minerals for both you and your baby. Plus you are burning extra energy. Eating on a consistent and regular basis keeps your body fueled and energized. This will keep your metabolism burning. When you go long periods of time without eating or skipping meals, your body goes into survival mode and slows your metabolism. That’s why switching to small snacks every tree hours instead of having a large meal three times a day will help you to speed up the metabolism and lose weight faster. Load up on veggies, fruits and healthy fats – like vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, and fish, – to get the most vitamins and minerals for you and your baby.
